Buono – Toronto, ON

After a day of shopping on Queen street West, my friend and I were hungry and came across this small Italian restaurant. The prices were very reasonable and it had good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. It did not disappoint!

cacio & pepe with spaghetti noodles

At around 4pm, the place was almost empty. Our server was very friendly and explained the menu (not too diverse, but it has enough selection). The concept is fun; you have a choice between tagliatelle, spaghetti, or rigatoni pasta – which they make fresh every day. Then you choose your sauce. Everything sounded really good but I went for the cacio e pepe with spaghetti noodles. It was soooo delicious. The sauce was perfectly rich & the noodles were cooked well. When it is done right, this simple combination of pecorino cheese & pepper tastes amazing!

While doing some research about the restaurant, I found out that they have another restaurant called Stelvio with locations in Toronto and Milan. I wonder why this place isn’t more popular. I also realized that I had Buono saved in my list of places to try in Toronto, so I will definitely be back here
– in particular to try the pettinata pasta with truffle sauce & parmesan. 😋

Thanks for reading!
