Before visiting London, I was told that they have really good Indian food and many people told me I had to try a restaurant called Dishoom. However, my dad suggested that I go to Indian Accent instead. I’m glad I listened because it was the best meal I had that weekend!
As a restaurant that was founded in New Delhi, the menu presents an innovative interpretation of traditional dishes. To be honest, I don’t eat Indian food very often, so the menu was a bit overwhelming. I’m sure I would have been able to figure it out, but I didn’t have to because they offer an express lunch tasting menu for a very reasonable £24 which includes your choice of two courses and various side dishes.

The meal started off with an amuse bouche of a sort of flatbread and spiced drink. The bread had blue cheese and was salted perfectly. I’m obsessed and wish I could eat more!

For my first course, I had the burrata papdi chaat, roast tomato chutney. It had good flavour and the sweetness from the pomegranate complemented the dish well.

Next, what I was most looking forward to, was the lamb chops, cumin jerusalem artichoke – I think mine came with potato instead. The second course also came with side dishes: vegetables, potatoes, two types of dal, yogurt, Indian bread, and basmati rice – yum! Although the portion may look a bit small, the sides make up for it. I was more than satisfied with this dish and the way the lamb chops were cooked. Sooo so good.

Since we were having such a great experience, we had to try the dessert too. As you can see, the presentation is beautiful. I really liked the tart. It came with vanilla bean ice cream. The dessert on the right, called makhan malai with saffron milk, rose petal jaggery brittle, and almonds had a delicate taste and texture.
This meal definitely has good value and I would highly recommend paying a visit here if you get the chance. Like I’ve mentioned, the original location is in New Delhi but they have another location in New York as well. As the Michelin Guide 2020 describes it, the dishes here are “sophisticated and full of flavour”. I love it!! I want to come back the next time I’m in London, but I also know there are so many other places to try. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
xoxo,
