Hello and welcome back to my extremely late final post on Belize, where I will share the last part of my trip in San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. From San Ignacio, it was about a two hour bumpy drive to Belize City, where we took the San Pedro Belize Express water ferry. The ride was about an hour and a half, and the waves weren’t too strong. After spending the past four days inland, we were excited to spend time at the beach and enjoy some warmer weather!
Hotel Corona Del Mar

The location of this hotel is not as central as other options, but it is still walking distance. It was clean enough, but our room was kind of damp and got pretty cold at night. They offer free breakfast in the morning – scrambled eggs and watermelon. Ask to try the fry jacks!
San Pedro Artisans Market

Upon our arrival, we went searching for somewhere to eat. We ended up having barbecue chicken with rice & beans at the San Pedro Artisans Market, where you can bargain for things like beaded bracelets, limestone ashtrays, and painted ceramics.
Snorkeling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve & Shark Ray Alley

No trip to Belize would be complete without exploring the marine diversity that exists within the Great Mayan Reef. We took a boat cruise with Dream Island Tours and saw sting rays, sea turtles, nurse sharks, an eel, and many fish. This is definitely the best snorkelling experience I’ve had so far.
Secret Beach and golf carting

On our last day in Belize, we drove 45 minutes in a golf cart to Secret Beach. It was crowded with beach chairs, and you have to order something to be able to sit. I had a ceviche – it was very fresh. The water was beautiful.
Dining

This was the first time I had ever heard of and tried a pupusa. It is basically a thick cornmeal tortilla stuffed with your choice of various ingredients (usually a mix of cheese, refried beans, and some other filling like pork or chicken). At this restaurant, there was a lady making the pupusas outside on a grill. It was cool to see that our food was being made to order.

This was such a great trip and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for somewhere that offers a combination of adventurous activities but also wants to visit the beach. The tours I went on honestly exceeded my expectations, and so did the food.
Thanks for reading!
