After an afternoon at the Louvre, my friends and I had lunch at Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie (a 10 minute walk from the museum). This place is more than just a restaurant; they’ve been selling high quality products like foie gras, caviar, and truffles since 1894. I highly recommend this place for the quality and authenticity of the food.
The Classiques du Comptoir menu has a variety of offerings which all sounded delicious. The prices are also reasonable. My friend and I shared the following:

duck foie gras ravioli with a truffle sauce
roasted bone marrow with sea salt
half a dozen bourgogne snails
● The foie gras dish was so smooth and buttery. The ravioli pasta was delicate and the texture of the foie gras blended nicely with the sauce. The truffle flavour was subtle. It tastes amazing but it is a very creamy dish and I started to feel heavy after eating too much ● The bone marrow came with a side of green salad and toasted bread. It wasn’t the best bone marrow I’ve had but it was still good ● Surprisingly, this was the only place in Paris where we were able to find escargot on the menu. These snails came with a classic parsley, butter, and garlic sauce. The texture is like mushroom but more chewy. I ordered them for the experience but it’s not a first choice for me ●
One of my friends ordered the shepherd’s pie and it was my favourite! It had outstanding flavour and the salad made it a well-balanced dish. I would order this next time.

This was one of my favourite meals in Paris. Compared to our other dining experiences, this one stands out and the service was very friendly as well. We wanted to come back for dinner to try their Carte de Saison menu (not available from 3-7pm) but we had bad luck because their electricity stopped working. 10/10 recommend this place and would return!
xoxo,
